Java Message Service (JMS), which is a standard part of the Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) version 1.3, is an API rather than a product offered by Sun Microsystems. A JMS server runs on a J2EE server, but Sun does not intend to be a JMS vendor. Sun created the JMS API for developers to connect to a message server.
