Minification and obfuscation of web resources

Minification (also minimisation or minimization) is a technique used to reduce the size, and partially obfuscate web resources, such as cascading stylesheets (.css) and JavaScript (.js) files. This is done by removing all the unnecessary characters from source code, without changing its functionality. This unnecessary code usually includes whitespace characters, newline characters, comments, and sometimes block delimiters, which are used to add readability to the code but are not required for it to execute.
