The Test Objectives

Sun publishes a rather general statement of the test objectives at http://suned.sun.com/US/certification/java/java_exam_objectives.html. The major sections of the objectives list are the nine categories used for grading the test:

  • Declarations and Access Control

  • Flow Control, Assertions, and Exception Handling

  • Garbage Collection

  • Language Fundamentals

  • Operators and Assignments

  • Overloading, Overriding, Runtime Type, and Object Orientation

  • Threads

  • Fundamental Classes in the java.lang Package

  • The Collections Framework

What Is Not on the Exam
