UDDI

The basic goal of UDDI is to provide a standard data model for storing information about organizations and their Web services. UDDI defines a SOAP-based API that allows remote clients to access, update, and search the information in a UDDI registry.

UDDI's standard data model makes it easier to identify and categorize information about business and their Web services, but it also makes UDDI more complicated, because you have to learn the data model and how to implement it. It's the complexity of UDDI that turns some people off—and that makes this part of the book fairly large.
