Among computer scientists, CERN is more often remembered as the birthplace of the World Wide Web (Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau) than an organization that has been awarded several Nobel Prizes in physics. In this context, it is important to remember that the World Wide Web was developed to meet the needs of CERN physicists, collaborating and exchanging information in a global physics community.
