We've covered nearly all the technologies that make up J2EE, as of the 1.3 version of the specification. JDBC wasn't explicitly covered, although it was working behind the scenes on our behalf in our entity bean implementation.

When we separated out the interface and implementation of our example application, I suspected at that point that all of the application components would be undergoing several iterations of change during the course of the book. I was surprised at how little change was required to adapt the application to one architecture after another. If I were to start the project over again, I could incorporate additional features up front (like putting dynamic behavior in from the very beginning) ...
