From the very beginning, what has set iWork apart from other office suites has been the consistency of its interface. You adjust fonts, colors, images, and text the same way in Pages, Numbers, or Keynote. Partly because the interface is so consistent, people have started experimenting — for example, by placing images in spreadsheets and tables in presentations.

iWork on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad (the iOS devices) all offer the same consistent interface from OS X, so how you use iWork for each of the apps on each of the operating systems is fundamentally the same.

Any differences that do exist are usually due to a basic feature of the device on which you are running. I discuss the most important distinction — using iWork menus on OS X — in the following chapter. iOS devices lack menus, so the menu system is a Mac-only interface. But the underlying functionality is very much the same on both OS X and iOS.
