˜ (tilde character).

Represents your home folder in the Mac OS X file system. See also home folder.

absolute reference

In Numbers, a reference that always refers to the same cell, even if you move the formula to a different formula cell. An absolute reference uses a dollar sign ($) before the column name and the row number — for example, $A$1 for cell A1. See also relative reference and mixed reference.

auto-completion

A feature that monitors the entries in table columns and suggests an existing entry when you type the first few letters of its name.

Auto-Correction

A feature for automatically entering the full version of a term in place of an incorrect or abbreviated version that you type. For example, if you type "teh", the Auto-Correction feature automatically corrects it to "the". You can create Auto-Correction entries to correct your own errors or to let you type long strings of text quickly. Each iWork application has separate Auto-Correction entries, so you can use the same term to enter a different item in each application if necessary.

autofilling

In Numbers, automatically entering values in cells based on cells that already contain values. For example, if cell A1 contains Monday, and cell B1 contains Tuesday, you can select those cells and then click and drag to the right to fill in Wednesday in cell C1, Thursday in cell D1, and so on.
