You Never Know Where the Pictures Are

I was in Biddeford, Maine, at my favorite pizza place. It’s called Pizza by Alex. I’ve been going there for over 20 years. Every time I teach in Maine, I stop there on the way up and the way back. The pizza is great and legendary for anyone who knows it.

On this particular day, I’ve finished my second pizza and, as I’m coming up for air, I see this elderly couple getting up to leave.

There is a big picture window to my left and the background is dark. I jump out of my chair (still chewing) and motion for them that I want to take their picture.

They smile and stop. I take a few shots and push it by asking them to move a bit closer to each other.

Nothing. No reaction.
