Try Something Different

I’m one of these guys who hate, hate, hate to do still lifes on jobs. But, when I see them in real life, or when I find or make sculptural things that look great, I’m delighted to do it.

Gary Regester had a company that made softboxes. It was called Chimera. He sent me a softbox and asked if I could shoot something with it that he could use for promotion and advertising. I figured that everyone else he gave it to was going to do soft or side-lit portraits or nudes, so I thought, that’s covered, why don’t I do rocks? I love rocks. I have carried them home in suitcases and have been asked many times, “What the hell do you have in there, rocks?” I usually say yes, but nobody believes me anyway.
