Chapter 8. Implement the Capacity Management Process

Like any significant IT endeavor, effective capacity management requires a well-designed process. In many areas the ITIL books provide a good high-level process that you can start with, but capacity management isn’t one of those areas. The very simple process described in the ITIL Service Design book is not really sufficient as a foundation for your capacity management program.

Fortunately, there are solid process foundations available. You could use the IBM Tivoli® Unified Process (ITUP) as a base, or any of a number of other sample capacity management processes.
