HP-UX 11i on the Itanium Architecture

In December 2000, HP-UX work done for Itanium was merged with the HP-UX 11i code stream. This ensured that HP-UX 11i for Itanium-based systems would have the same look, feel, and robust performance as did HP-UX 11i for PA-RISC systems.

HP-UX 11i for Itanium was crafted from the same source code that makes up HP-UX 11i on PA-RISC. Therefore, HP-UX 11i on Itanium-based systems benefits completely from the years of investment that Hewlett-Packard made in HP-UX 11i on PA-RISC.
