3.4. Inventing a Project Kickoff

Every project requires a project kickoff. So what is it, how do you get one, and why is it needed? A project kickoff is a meeting—or an evenT&Mdash;to introduce the project, the management backing the project, the project manager, and the team members. It should be friendly, yet authoritative; organized; and used as a mechanism to assign ownership of the project to the team.

A project kickoff is needed to establish the launch of the project, who's in charge of the project, and who's in control of the project team.
