Chapter 6. Learn from the Past to Build the Future
We're no different than anyone else in IT. We didn't want to believe that anything that evolved out of the mainframe world would actually be beneficial in this networked era (e.g., processes, methodologies, etc.). And why would anyone ever think that the mainframe organization structure would work for any other paradigm? Not a chance! Many of us have this negative perception and remember all the bureaucracy that came out of that environment. But the process bureaucracy had nothing to do with how effective the organization structure was. The structure empowered the people.
