Planning—Highlighting Automation Project Nuances

This chapter does not contain a primer on project planning and management. However, by way of review, your project plan should contain the following components at a minimum:

  • Tasks: steps required to deliver the milestone.

  • Timeline: deadlines associated with tasks and milestones.

  • Dependencies: sequencing and relationship between milestones and tasks.

  • Risks and Contingencies: identification of risks and mitigating factors.

  • Resource Allocations: staff requirements and time required to complete tasks.

  • Budget: cost of the project, including staffing, product purchasing, deployment, administration, etc.
