The Koran is the Muslim “Bible” in the sense that it is revered as a holy book of revelation, containing God’s guidance to humanity. But it differs from the Bible—both the Old and New Testaments—in several significant respects. The Bible is not a single book. It is a collection of different books, by different authors, written or revealed at different times, over a period of many centuries. The Old Testament is in Hebrew, with the exception of some passages that are in Aramaic. The New Testament is in Greek, although, according to some scholars, certain passages may be translated from an earlier original in Aramaic.
