The first part of this chapter is a summary of previous chapters. Following that are my conclusions as well as my expectations for iSCSI and how it may be deployed. I also discuss how iSCSI may evolve in the future. All readers should be able to follow this information.

Summary

iSCSI is a transport for the SCSI protocol, carrying commands and data from the host processor to the storage controller and carrying data and status from the storage controller to the host processor. The host processor is considered the initiator system; the storage controller, the target device.
