13.1 Introduction
The CDMA system is an interference-limited system in which link performance depends on the ability of the receiver to detect a signal in the presence of interference. In order for a CDMA link to perform satisfactorily, the designer must specify a frame error rate (FER). Field trials help the designer to establish the required Eb/It values on the reverse link and various channels of the forward link that will maintain the specified FER.
