Syslog

At the time of writing, at least Solaris and FreeBSD support remote syslogging over IPv6. This means that you can log to a remote host using the @hostname syntax in /etc/syslog.conf and you can also receive messages sent from another host.

Unfortunately, many operating systems, including IOS, don't yet seem to support logging over IPv6, so this service is not yet as useful as it might be.

Note that FreeBSD's logger command-line utility can send a syslog message to any remote host over IPv4 or IPv6. This can be useful for testing IPv6 support on other platforms.
