Conventions Used in This Book

I use the following font conventions in this book:

  • Italic for commands, directory paths, filenames, and URLs.

  • Boldface for names of GUI items such as window names, buttons, and menu choices.

  • Constant Width for names and keywords in Java programs, including method names, variable names, and class names; IP and MAC addresses; and XML element tags.

  • Constant width italic for replaceable text.

  • Constant width bold for text that users should input.
