Biosafety of Genetically Engineered Products

Chapter Objectives:

Recombinant DNA techniques represent a development of advanced procedures. They permit precise alteration, construction, recombination, deletion and translocation of genes that may give the recipient cells a desirable phenotype. Recombinant products and their biosafety are important aspects to look in to before their commercialization. This chapter emphasizes on the biosafety of the newly formed product and its risk assessment keeping in mind human health, environment, food and feed and the other economic and social impacts.
