Shop the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store

Owners of the iPod Touch don't even need a computer to shop the iTunes Store—these lucky souls can tap their way right into the iTunes inventory over a wireless Internet connection. Many Wi-Fi-enabled Starbucks coffee shops also let you tap into the iTunes Store to browse and buy music, including whatever track is currently playing right there at Starbucks.

When using the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, there's one major thing to remember. You need to have signed into your iTunes Store account (on your computer) the last time you synced up your Touch. (If you don't have an account yet, you'll learn how to get one in a few pages.)

Now, to buy music when you're out and about—and in the mood to shop:

❶ Tap the iTunes icon on the iPod Touch's Home screen. Make sure you have a Wi-Fi connection; see Chapter 11 for guidance on making that happen.

❷ The Store appears on screen. Tap your way through the categories like "What's Hot" until you find an album or song that interests you. (Tap an album title to see all its songs.)

❸ Tap a song to hear a 30-second preview.

❹ For targeted shopping, tap the Search button at the bottom of the window to call up the Search box. Use the Touch's onscreen keyboard to enter what you're looking for.

❺ To buy and download a song or album, tap the price on screen, then tap Buy Now.
