Copying Calendars from Other Programs

Just as with the Contacts feature, you have to set up your iPod as an external disk before using any of the Calendar transfer techniques described in the following pages for manually moving your date-book data over to the iPod. If you have your iPod’s music preferences set up for manual update (Section 2.5.2.2), you don’t have to do a thing except double-click the iPod’s desktop icon and find the Calendars folder.

If you’ve opted for the labor-free auto-sync method of loading your music onto your iPod, you need to turn the iPod into an external disk when copying your calendars. To make it so, connect the iPod and go to the Preferences box (described back on Section 5.3). Click the Music tab, and then turn on the “Enable disk use” checkbox. The computer will now consider the iPod an external hard drive and you’ll need to properly eject it before you go running off. Luckily, there’s a convenient Eject button right next to the iPod’s icon in the iTunes Source list.
