Publish a Web Page from Your iPod

Plug your iPod into your Mac and create a web page from your iPod’s image library in a snap.

“Store Digital Photos on Your iPod” [Hack #3] shows how easy it is to use your iPod as a storage device for your digital images. This hack takes your iPod’s integration with your digital camera a step further, allowing you to easily create a web page to display the images you have transferred to your iPod. This is great for both professional photographers and amateurs alike. If you are a pro, you can transfer your shots to your iPod as you shoot throughout the day. When you get back to your studio, just plug your iPod into your Mac and, following the directions in this hack, you can produce a quick and easy web page for your clients to review your photos. Amateurs can use this to quickly share photos of a family outing.

To get the job done, we are going to rely on Image Capture. Image Capture is included with Mac OS X and can be found in the Applications folder. This nifty little app is sort of like iPhoto’s stripped-down sibling—albeit with a ton of hidden power.

Tip

If you want to test this hack but don’t own either of the Belkin products discussed in “Run Your iPod in Disk Mode” [Hack #32], you can simply create an Images folder on your iPod and copy some digital snaps into it.
