The RSS Angle
If you like to use an RSS newsreader to keep up with the world, you’ll love Flickr RSS feeds. Subscribe to someone’s photostream, and small thumbnails appear in your newsreader when that person uploads new photos. You can also subscribe to specific tags. Subscribe to the beach tag, and your newsreader will show everyone’s beach photos as they’re uploaded.
Subscribing in iPhoto. You can even subscribe to Flickr RSS feeds in iPhoto itself. Say you’d like to subscribe to my photo feed. (I’m flattered!) Go to my Flickr page (flickr.com/jimheid), scroll to the bottom of the page, and locate the Subscribe links. Control-click the one that reads Latest, then choose Copy Link from the shortcut menu.
Next, switch to iPhoto, and choose File ...
