Improving Recognition
Variety matters. As I’ve mentioned, the more photos of a specific face that you confirm, the better able iPhoto is to identify additional photos containing that face.
But quantity isn’t the only factor; variety is critical, too. Confirming one photo can sometimes unlock the door to iPhoto suddenly recognizing many more photos of that person. This is most likely to happen when that photo depicts the person in a slightly different way—with his or her head tilted or in partial profile, for example.
