Part III. Picking Great Accessories

Camera phones, the iPhone camera in particular, have come a long way in a very short time. The increasing number of pixels (3 megapixels in the 3GS and 5 megapixels in the iPhone 4's rear camera) and the more sophisticated firmware and software available for the iPhone provide consumers with the opportunity for striking photography.

Advanced photography with the iPhone requires some additional accessories that are becoming more available. In Chapter 7, I discuss tripods and other equipment that make your iPhone more stable for crisp photographs and multiple photos of the same subject for High Dynamic Range manipulations (see Chapter 5). For the iPhone 3G/3GS, supplementary lighting can be a lifesaver for low-light photography, and I show you some examples. Supplementary lighting and some display devices (for showing your iPhone photography when you're away from your computer) are also discussed.

Chapter 8 reveals accessories for zooming in on your subject with the iPhone, including a variety of zoom and wide-angle lenses that are available.
