Chapter 8. High Dynamic Range

One of the limitations of a small sensor in a mobile camera is the lack of dynamic range. But what if you could blend the highlights of the dark image with the shadow areas of the light image to capture a much wider dynamic range?

Well, you can, with a technique called high dynamic range, or HDR. This technique has been around for a while, but with some recent software tools it has really taken off on the DSLR side of photography.
