The Karma of Shooting

In the early days of film and television, video and film cameras were huge and weighed so much that you either had to prop them up on a tripod or hire a moose to carry them around. The moose was called the cameraman.

Today, your iPhone and most digital video cameras are light and tiny, so the way we work with them is going to change. There are some people who will stick an iPhone on a tripod that is about a hundred times the size of the phone. This I call insane. The small cameras give us an opportunity to reinvent what filmmaking is all about. We are going to work in a way that is much more natural and far simpler.
