Managing your address book and birthday list

One of the most useful collections of information you can carry with you is your address book. If you remember a birthday at the last minute and have to write out a card in the shop, or just want to phone a friend for advice or a chat, you'll be pleased to have your addresses and phone numbers at the tip of your fingers.

The iPad comes with an app called Contacts, which is designed to help you manage your address book. It's a simple app, but it's powerful because it's integrated with many other apps. When you're sending email, you can use the details in your address book to save yourself from having to remember or type somebody's email address, for example, and the Maps app enables you to find directions to and from your friends’ houses quickly.
