DESIGNATED TRANSIT LISTS (DTLs)

During the call setup operations shown in Figure 9-15, PNNI signaling can request a route from PNNI routing. This information is provided in a designated transit list (DTL). This list consists of the complete path across a peer group, and is provided by the DTL originator or an entry border router node to a peer group. More than one DTL can be used to set up a connection from one party to another, which leads to the possibility of alternate routing discussed next.
