THE PNNI HIERARCHY IN MORE DETAIL

We have taken a broad overview of PNNI so far; this section delves into more detail. The alphanumerics in Figure 9-12 represent addresses. They are drawn in place of specific addresses for ease of explanation. The highest PNNI hierarchy in this figure is peer group A identified with the address of A. The nodes inside the group are identified as A1, A4, etc., and they are connected with logical links. Within each peer group is a peer group leader whose responsibility is to receive topology information from all nodes in the group and advertise this information to other groups.
