CONTROLLED DISTRIBUTION OF ROUTING TO ENFORCE TRANSIT POLICIES

BGP enforces its transit policies by the controlled distribution of routing information. A router is set up to support these policies by using one of three methods (a) using IP addresses as a control mechanism, (b) using the AS_PATH attribute, and (c) using the communities attribute. These methods have been explained in earlier parts of this chapter. More information is provided in the last section of this chapter, dealing with router configurations.
