OTHER RFC-BASED ASPECTS OF OSPF

In a large domain, there may be hundreds of LSA entries in a database, and many LSA packets transmitted between the routers in the routing domain. On occasion, a router may go down. On other occasions, a router may wish to take a link out of operation. Moreover, the network administrator may wish to change the roles of the routers in a domain, perhaps taking one out of the role as a primary router, and placing another router in its place. Given these possibilities, it is important that capabilities exist to verify the accuracy of LSAs, and to make certain they are topical.
