The networks connected outside OSPF autonomous systems are not members of this autonomous system. AS OSPF routers discover these networks through an external gateway protocol (such as BGP), and then advertise these networks within the autonomous system with external LSAs. External links are shown in Figure 6-6, with the notations N12, N13, and N14, which symbolize networks 12, 13, and 14.
