Chapter 6. IP Troubleshooting Scenarios

This chapter covers aspects of troubleshooting IP connectivity problems that have not yet been discussed. It is not intended to be an in-depth analysis of IP network troubleshooting. However, it does cover some of the fundamental skills that anyone supporting an IP network should have.

The troubleshooting methodology presented is very structured. It uses the process of elimination to isolate the failure to the root symptom. Like many network failures, the root cause of the failure in this scenario may never be known.
