Getting Further Help

The web is a vast resource, and it includes many postings, tutorials, and examples that you can use to save yourself time. Help from these non-Apple sources isn’t optional: It can be a huge time-saver for you as a new developer, because you can explore sample projects and in-depth discussions at every level.

To find examples and tutorials, search the web. For example, to find out more information about using sound in iOS, search for “iOS sound tutorial,” as shown in Figure 2.21. You’ll occasionally need to narrow the search by including the word ”dev” or “developer” in your search string.

Most common search topics return a good selection of hits. Some are complete worked solutions with sample code, while others are video- or web-based tutorials. All are likely to be easier to follow than Apple’s own documentation.

Two other sources are useful for more experienced developers:

StackOverflow. This message board is used by professional developers who ask questions and solve each other’s problems. Beginners are welcome as long as they don’t ask very basic questions with answers that are easy to find online. You can read previous discussions without having to take part in current ones.
