Kim Kardashian’s Connectors

Surprise? You have them all.

You know Kim. She’s the girl who married the tall guy and then two months later they went their separate ways, with the divorce proceedings lasting longer than the engagement and marriage combined. Her mother is one of the truly brilliant contemporary marketers, and Kim has learned well from her mother.

Some of what Kim does is not replicable. She’s good-looking and has a body that doesn’t stop.

Some of what she does is replicable. She works incredibly hard. She tolerates public pressure in a way that makes politicians envious. She gets marketing and in particular branding.

She’s 30 and has 16,000,000 Twitter followers. That places her tenth on the planet.

Some of what the Kardashians do as a family is nothing short of brilliant.

You don’t need to watch their popular television shows to learn this.

So what are they doing right that you are probably doing wrong? You’re probably trying to use an “off-the-shelf solution” for a start.

“Kevin, I have a question. I need to persuade buyers. Will it work, if I say … ’”

Or “My company currently does X and Y, and it’s not working. I’m thinking of making a change, inducing reciprocity, training my sales staff on expectancy, and using social proof as the final nail.”
