About the Author

Sheldon Jacobs wrote, in 1974, the first self-help book ever on no-load mutual funds, Put Money in Your Pocket, introducing thousands of investors to no-load funds. It launched a notable career that enabled Jacobs to found a popular investment newsletter in 1979. The No-Load Fund Investor went on to become the number-one financial newsletter in America for risk-adjusted performance for the 15 years ending in 2006. In 1987, Jacobs co-founded—along with Bob Brinker, an ABC radio host and newsletter publisher—the BJ Group, a Registered Investment Advisor. Over 1,000 clients entrusted $600 million of assets to the BJ Group, which the firm managed on a discretionary basis. The Investor newsletter was later sold, but Jacobs continues as a contributing editor.

In July 1993, Jacobs was one of five nationally recognized mutual fund advisors chosen by the New York Times for a mutual fund portfolio competition. The portfolio he selected produced the highest returns for almost seven years.

Jacobs is a member of Bottom Line's investment advisory panel. He was a founding advisor to Charles Schwab's Financial Advisory Service Board, and has been listed in Who's Who in America.

The Investor is also the only investment newsletter in America to earn recognition on the annual Forbes/MarketWatch/Hulbert Honor Roll in 10 of the past 11 years that Sheldon edited the newsletter.
