Recent discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico prove an interesting situation. The recent Tiber discovery by BP illustrates that various geologic shelf structures in the Gulf once thought to be dormant contain considerable development potential. Another discovery by McMoRan in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico illustrates the opportunities right in the backyard of both the United States and Mexico. This is a wake-up for call for both the United States and Mexico seeking exploration opportunities.
