Producers will work with a handful of highly specialized certification companies that analyze fields and reservoirs for commercial viability. The certification process is an independent audit process carried out by teams of geoscientists, petroleum engineers, and other experts aimed at assessing a given geologic structure for hydrocarbon potential.
