WHEN I FINISH READING NONFICTION BOOKS, I SETTLE BACK AND consider: “What did I learn by reading this book?” I recommend that procedure to my students. Now before you finish this book, I’d like to help you prepare for that procedure.

You might wonder why I spell this out now, after you’ve finished the book and read all the stories, rather than in the introduction. First, I believe that you can better understand how to create your best reinvention designs after you know and fully understand these stories. Second, I didn’t want you to skip the stories, to get to the designs more quickly, because I wanted you to enjoy the wonderful stories the interviewees were so kind to share.
