Summary

This chapter covers the upgrading of both Snort configuration options and the Snort application itself. Two automated methods of upgrading Snort configuration options were presented. They both involve the use of a third-party application designed to manage Snort sensors. The two applications covered in this chapter are IDS Policy Manager and SnortCenter. IDS Policy Manager is a Windows 2000/XP application that can manage Unix-based Snort installations. SnortCenter is a Web-based management application that installs agents on each sensor.
