Post-Installation Tasks

There are a few simple but important post-installation tasks that are essential for priming the server. The first and most important task is to bring the server up to a current patch level. Not only do the patches close some serious security holes, but they fix some bugs that could reduce the server's performance and functionality. If you are installing on a distribution other than Red Hat, the process of updating Linux varies slightly. Most Linux distributions (Mandrake, Debian, and so on) have an update tool that can be used to patch the server automatically.
