10.1 Wireless intruder alarms

Wireless intruder alarms are also often called radio systems, and work by linking detection devices to radio transmitters which communicate with a central control unit. These require little wiring but are generally more expensive to purchase than their hard-wired counterparts. They are economical in terms of installation costs and are becoming increasingly used, so they hold great potential for the future. Wireless signalling systems consist of a combination of radio receivers and transmitters used in conjunction with intruder detectors that are battery powered.
