Viscous Compressible Flow

We have seen in Chapter 7 that the domain of viscous compressible flow, in general, satisfies the assumption of continuous media and can be described by the conservation laws of mass, momentum and energy forming a set of equations called Navier–Stokes equations. Discussion on direct numerical simulation (DNS) of viscous compressible flow past bodies of practical interest is beyond the scope of this book. Instead, we will restrict ourselves to solution of the Reynolds averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations with turbulence modelling.
