About the Authors

Pradip Niyogi obtained his M.Sc. (1955) in Applied Mathematics from Calcutta University. He was a Research Associate of late Prof K. Os-watitsch at the then DVL Institute of Theoretical Gasdynamics, Aachen (1961–65), Germany. Under his supervision he carried out research work and received a doctorate degree from Technische Hochschule, Aachen (1965) with a thesis on Wing Theory. He served in Jadavpur University, Kolkata from 1958 to 1979 and then joined IIT, Kharagpur, as a Professor of Mathematics and held the position till 1997.
