Chapter 10. When Are We Done?

So far, this book has discussed what comprises a business architecture model and has demonstrated two approaches to creating one. One critical point has been overlooked so far, though: When are we done? Is there even such a thing as “done” with this kind of work? What would “done” look like?

As long as the business continues to exist, the business architecture modeling work should continue; it is never really finished. However, you can and should set interim points at which you will be finished with a “latest iteration” of the model. In this chapter, the concept of completeness is examined, both in the context of the initial establishment of the model and in the context of future updates to the model.
