This chapter discusses how to connect VoIP service in your home. You have several different possibilities. We don’t go through all of them, but spend some time on a couple of the most common types.
As a starting point (and so we can keep this book to a reasonable length), we need to make the following assumptions:
You already have a high-speed broadband Internet service installed and working.
The broadband service has a minimum of 128 kbps uplink bandwidth (from your home to the broadband provider), and preferably higher (such as 256 or 284 kbps).
