By design, when you create a new Web site in IIS 7.0 via IIS Manager, a new application pool with the same name as the Web site name is created automatically. This sandbox initiative aims to secure and isolate the new application for both security and availability so that it has a dedicated application pool and dedicated worker processes. This simplifies administration, especially in a shared hosting environment, so that administrators do not need to manually create a new application pool for the Web site.
